Singing for Community Causes
As part of a commitment to
discharging our social responsibilities both as individuals and a group,
SIX2EIGHT is always ready to lend support to fund raising causes that
resonate with our values. Charitable associations for which the group
has performed include the Malaysian AIDS Foundation, Kiwanis Downs
Syndrome Foundation and Maurice LaCroix Miss Universe Charity Ball 2000.
In January 2000 the group created, produced and staged a show
called “Rockappella Roll!”, an evening of pop songs and dance “without
accompaniment” and raised over RM60,000 for the Chung Hwa School
Building Fund. The group also arranged, choreographed and staged
"Greased – Stripped Down and Souped Up" as part of
Dance4Charity in September 2002 to raise funds for Majlis Kanser Research.
In July 2003 the group continued its association with Yap Cheng May and "a capella
fest" and this third in the series raised funds for both Actors
Studio and Dama Orchestra whose premises were destroyed in a flash flood
in Kuala Lumpur. In December 2003 SIX2EIGHT helped to "Share The Blessing"
and raise funds for the Nanyang Foundation at the Securities Commission
Kuala Lumpur whilst March 2004 saw us helping to raise both the roof and
substantial sums for Montford Boys at their Premier Charity Dinner. |
